with all the grumbling i’ve been doing lately, i feel like i should also take time to count all my blessings as well…
this past sunday, brian and i were lucky enough to be invited to a major league baseball game by good friends of ours. it was my first time, and it was amazing! everything was completely free, from the chartered bus to the SUITE! the best part of all is that our team, the home team, won! cincinnati is an absolutely beautiful city…i would love to live there one day.
and of course brian got me a souvenir 🙂
speaking of cincinnati, i’m SO PROUD of my brother sam, for getting accepted into the VERY prestigious and difficult DAAP school at the university of cincinnati. the program is very selective, i believe they only accept 50 people total each year, limiting the out of state students. him and my mom just went to orientation, and brought me back this 🙂
and speaking of family…there’s nothing i love more! when you are jobless, grouchy, just plain right down and out, there is no one like family to make you happy. we are blessed to be celebrating my grandfather’s 80th birthday, with a LARGE family disney cruise at the end of the week. although it is expensive and a little overwhelming, reality is finally starting to sink in and i am getting STOKED. here are a few essentials i have begun to pack:
ive never needed a passport before, and my photo is hideous, so i will NOT be sharing that, but the cruise will be stopping in the bahamas and disneys own private island, castaway cay
must carry on in style! luckily i had a vera bradley gift card, and i was able to purchase this darling new backpack. this makes me a very happy camper 🙂
my favorite color is baby blue, and these playing cards come with many great memories. i have already mastered rummy 500 and have recently added euchre under my belt. ill have to teach that one to the fam this vacay. cards are so fun and can be played just about anywhere. they are a must pack item for us.
sorry this is sideways, but i really don’t feel like editing it right now. behold, the family travel journal. i am a documenter. i love to write things down and snap photos like crazy. therefore, i have somewhat become the family historian. a few years ago, on a whim, i bought this travel journal, and we have not been able to live without it ever since. i take it on every family trip. at the end of each day, we get together, and write down highlights from the day: funny happenings, special events, memorable quotes, etc. it has really brought our family together, and it is super fun to go back and read the entries together.
ok, no i’m not packing my super nintendo! yesterday i was a little sick (think it was from bad jimmy john’s) so after hours of vomiting and applying for jobs, i needed a little stress relief. i erased one of my previously saved games and started from the very beginning. i’d forgotten how fun it can be!
i was also able to finish a new wood block i had been working on. you know all those sassy saying you tell kids when they are being trying…like “hey is for horses.” well when i was in my “woo is me” pity party, thinking life is not fair, i ran across this quote, “FAIR is where you get cotton candy.” i instantly just laughed and smiled. and plus i am a big fan of the fair and cannot wait until it comes next month. also, i just so happened to have cute “fair-ish” stamps, including one of cotton candy, so of course i had to put all of these things to good use right? 🙂 the color scheme got a little out of hand, but overall i’m still pleased with it.
ok, i guess it’s time to stop putting off getting ready for work.
until next time
